Ahhhh! Fall is in the air! Pumpkin spice and everything nice, right? Well… not always. While there are so may great things about this time of year, from the scarlet and golden turning of the leaves, to the way a warm cup of cider fills the soul, there are also some things that leave many feeling a bit down in the dumps. Even with all of its glory, this time of year may be taking a toll on you or someone you know. The shorter days offer less sunlight to brighten our moods. The cold and rainy weather might make some of us summer-lovers feel stagnant. Some even deal with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

So many people leave their massage sessions feeling relaxed, but I’d be curious to see how many know that it may very well be the effect the massage had on one’s hormone production! Did you know that a massage can help to better balance your hormone levels? Not only does massage lower cortisol levels (the hormone our body produces when we are under stress,) but research has also shown it to increase the hormones that make you feel happy.  It has actually been known to increase neurotransmitter production of dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, the hormones that help to produce feelings of joy and that help us deal with stress.
